What is Nexus Market

A darknet marketplace inside the Tor network, running since 2021 under the name it prints on its own check screen: NEXUS, next generation market. White wordmark, red X. The rest of this page is what the name is standing in for.

The shape of it

Nexus Market is a two sided platform. Vendors list goods, buyers purchase them, and the market sits in the middle holding the money until the trade completes. It runs entirely on .onion addresses, reachable only through a network that routes traffic in three hops before it reaches the entry point. There is no clearnet storefront, no app store listing, no company page. The market is the onion, and the onion is the market.

Three onion addresses open it, all with the nexus prefix, all listed on the mirrors page. They are the same market from three directions: separate entry points in different regions, one shared shop, one shared account system. A balance held behind one of them is the same balance behind the other two.

What the platform does

Who uses it

The registered base passed 90,000 buyers some time ago and has kept growing, with the vendor side past a thousand active listings holders. The mix is what you would expect of the category: a core of people who buy the same things every month and treat the market like a utility, a rotating door of first timers who found the address through the same loop of friend and forum and link page, and the vendors, who are in a business with a fee schedule, a shipping profile, and a reputation they will not sell cheap.

The goods are the range the category is known for, from the obvious to the merely convenient, listed under the market's categories with the same escrow and the same rules. What is in stock on any given day is a question for the search bar, not for this page.

The name on the check screen

Every visit starts with the market's own check: a dark screen, the NEXUS wordmark, the line about checking your browser, then the DDoS captcha with the red circle. It is the first thing every new user sees, which makes it the most copied thing about the market, and the most useful. A fake that gets the wordmark right usually gets the check wrong, and a fake that gets the check wrong is telling you exactly what it is. The first visit page documents both screens in detail, and the verification page turns the recognition into a checklist.

What the market is not

It is not a company with a support inbox. Questions go to the market's own channels, inside the market, and the answer comes from the market's staff in a chat thread, not from a forms page. It is not fast in the way clearnet is fast; the three hops are the price of the route, and the check screens are the price of the entry. And it is not permanent in the way institutions are; the address changes from time to time, announced inside the market with a signature, and the people who follow the announcement are the ones who are never locked out. The address changed page covers how to read one when it comes.
